Rock Buns

Rock buns are a specific type of pastry, distinguished by the hard, crust-like texture and sweet taste. Easy recipe for beginner in baking.

Rock Cakes
Ingredients for Rock Buns:
  • 8 oz. (250g.) flour + pinch of salt + 2 tsp. baking powder - (sifted together)
  • 2 ½ oz. (75g.) butter
  • 2 ½ oz. (75g.) sugar
  • 4 oz. (125g.) raisins
  • a few drops of vanilla essence
  • 1 egg + 2 Tbs. milk - (beaten together)
  1. Rub butter into flour with fingertips till it resembles fine breadcrumbs. Mix in sugar, raisins and vanilla essence.
  2. Add egg mixture to flour mixture and mix well with fork.
  3. Divide mixture into 12 portions. Dish each up with a fork and place on greased baking trays.
